About us
Introduction
Places of worship are integral to the landscape of Britain, representing centuries of faith, craftsmanship and design.
Many of our
most precious faith-related
buildings are in desperate need of repair and rely on the help of local
communities.
Faith in Maintenance was a unique project that aimed to provide training and support for the thousands of volunteers in England and Wales who help to maintain our historic places of worship.
Faith in Maintenance delivered 150 training courses over five years helping over 5,000 volunteers to look after a variety of faith buildings across the country. One of the key aspects of the scheme was that the training courses were free and were available to any faith group using an historic building for its worship.
The Faith in Maintenance project was run by Sara Crofts, an architect and former SPAB Lethaby Scholar with a background in historic building conservation. She was ably assisted by project administrator Kate Minnis.
