Faith in Maintenance DVD
The Faith in Maintenance training programme is intended to reach over 6,000 volunteers during the course of the five-year project. However, this is only a fraction of the total number of people who care for historic places of worship in this country. In an attempt to address this gap we have started work on a project to produce a training DVD which will be distributed freely to volunteers who look after historic places of worship. The DVD will provide sensible and practical advice to help people tackle the common building problems found in faith buildings of all ages and types.
The production of a training DVD is an obvious solution to the problem of reaching a wider audience because one of the most important elements of our training programme is the opportunity to visit a site and get a hands-on appreciation of how to inspect a building and spot problems. This aspect cannot readily be transmitted through the handbook and website so a film that visits churches and shows the problems and the processes involved is clearly the next best thing. Properly produced, such an endeavour would have an extremely long shelf life and would considerably extend the life and influence of the Faith in Maintenance initiative.
We currently estimate that the DVD project will cost around £50,000 to complete and are pleased to announce that we have already secured £25,000 in funding. We are now actively seeking a further £25,000 to allow us to realise this exciting opportunity.
